However, these aren’t the only new additions, as tons of bugs and issues have also crept in. Recently users reported that the NHL suddenly crashed as soon as they reached a particular calendar date. Add to that misery, many have now voiced their concerns regarding the inconsistent HDR in the game, which ends up making the gameplay dull and without the required brightness. The issue is also clearly visible in the player transition screens. Apart from that, this patchy HDR setting makes the ice looks kind of grey in color too.
Then there are the infuriating Dynamic Lighting issues, wherein the gamer goes from dark to bright and vice versa in a matter of seconds. For example, at puck drop every period it is very dimly lit. Then as soon as you enter the offensive zone, it goes lit up again but only to go dark in the defensive zones. So is there any end to these buggy graphical issues? Well, there does seem to exist a workaround that has managed to fix the HDR dark ice issue in NHL 22. Let’s check it out.
How to Fix HDR Dark Ice Issue in NHL 22
As of now, the only way of rectifying this issue is to disable the Dynamic Tone Mapping settings of your display. However, this might only be applicable for the users who are playing this game on their TV. So if you belong to that category, then head over to the Picture settings and turn off the toggle next to DTM. Going through the EA Forum, it seems most users who were facing these HDR issues were having their TV as the display monitor, and turning off this feature did spell out success for them.
However, this is still not the most viable fix as there are still some users who aren’t using the aforementioned display. Well, the best option would have been to incorporate the HDR Brightness and Nit Peak adjustment settings in the game menu itself. But as of now, there doesn’t seem to be any plan from the developer’s end to add any HDR-related settings as such. Even according to the EA Community Manager, “this is likely a TV issue rather than a game issue.” So this puts all our hopes to rest regarding the rollout of this feature in the near future. But if that happens, you will definitely be updated about the same via this post.
